The MSC seeks to catalyse the planned transformation of Malaysia into a knowledge based society by introducing the Malaysian National Digital Library

Objective
The objectives of the project are;

• To serve as a platform to encourage local online services/contents as part of the MSC initiative

• To support R&D and other activities of the MSC initiative

• To accelerate the local information contents industry

• To provide affordable online information services to the whole nation

What is Envisage?

• A service for the whole nation via existing libraries

• A consortium based effort where duplication of resources can be avoided

• An effort to pool and to share effectively the nation's knowledge and information resources

Malaysian National Digital Library -Benefit To Nation

• Pooling together resources can be an important step towards better access to global knowledge and information   resources for the Malaysian society at large

• Can significantly contribute to the quality of R&D activities in the country

• Can be an attraction to world class companies involved in R&D to come to Malaysia

• Contribute to the lifelong learning opportunities of all Malaysians

• Overcome problem of unequal access to knowledge and information resources that currently exists between   urban and rural areas

• Serve as a catalyst for the local information industry

• Contribute to the long term goals of Vision 2020 - a knowledge based society

The Players
MDC will act as the facilitator for the initiative. The major players involved are National Library of Malaysia, The Academics Libraries, Telekom Malaysia Berhad and All Local Content Providers
